We used AI at every stage of iOS development. Here’s what we’d recommend.
AI-Assisted iOS Development is in presale now. Four modules are out, the rest arrive weekly, and it's $375 until 6 November.
AI has become part of software development faster than almost any tool before it. Some iOS developers have rebuilt the way they work around it, and others have decided to stay well clear. Most of us are somewhere in between: sure it matters, but not sure where to start, or how far to trust it.
It's a genuinely powerful new tool, and it can play a part at every stage of building an app, not just writing code. Most of what you read about it, though, is either breathless or dismissive. Neither helps much when you have an app to ship.
So we worked through every stage of iOS development with AI, from ideation, through exploring a legacy codebase to shipping on the App Store. AI-Assisted iOS Development represents everything we found currently worth adopting, and how to do it. It's built for busy iOS developers who want to use AI productively, building on the skills they already have rather than replacing them.
What it covers
There are eight concise modules, in four stages:
- Get started. Set up AI tooling in Xcode, Claude Code and Cursor, then use it to understand and modernize a legacy codebase.
- Plan and build. Shape a feature with AI playing roles from CEO to designer, then implement it with agents working in parallel, and learn when to take over.
- Validate. Generate tests with AI, and review AI-written code so its mistakes don't repeat.
- Ship. Add agentic code review to your CI pipeline, and use AI for App Store copy and for turning user feedback into feature ideas.
How it's taught
- Theory and practice are separate. We explain the reasons behind the approaches, as well as demonstrating them in action.
- You see what actually happened. AI output isn't deterministic, so your results won't match ours exactly. But seeing how they differ will give you invaluable understanding of this new, ditzy tooling.
- Costs are up front. Every lesson gives an approximate token count, so you know what a workflow costs to run before you adopt it.
- Recommendations, not dogma. This is what we'd do today, not the one correct way to work.
Who it's for
- iOS developers who haven't used AI tooling seriously yet, and want to know what's worth adopting.
- Developers already using AI who want a more deliberate, reliable way of working.
It isn't a beginner course: you should be comfortable building an iOS app from scratch. Some lessons work best with a Claude or ChatGPT subscription, and each one tells you roughly what it costs to run.
Where it is now
The program isn't finished yet. Modules 1 to 4 are out now, and the rest are released weekly until it's complete in mid-November. Homeworks arrive alongside the final modules. Buy during the presale and you get each module the moment it's released.
Two ways to get it
Not a Kodeco subscriber
The full program is $375 until 6 November, and $500 after that. You get:
- all eight modules, for life, including updates as the tools change
- homeworks with answer keys, and knowledge-check quizzes
- office hours with the Kodeco team
- a private Discord channel for program members
Already a subscriber, or thinking of joining…
The program's content is already part of your subscription. For $70 you add the homeworks, quizzes, office hours and Discord channel, for as long as your subscription lasts.
If you've been meaning to work out where AI fits into your iOS work, this is our answer.
