Introducing Kodebits
Not every lesson needs to be a deep dive. Sometimes the thing that sticks is a five-line snippet you spot while scrolling through your feed during a coffee break. That's the idea behind Kodebits—and we reckon (and hope) you'll enjoy them with us.
What's a Kodebit?
A Kodebit is a bite-sized coding tip: a short explanation, a focused code snippet and a link to try it out in an online playground. Each one covers a single concept—small enough to read in a couple of minutes, but useful enough to actually change the way you write code.
We're publishing Kodebits across Swift, Kotlin and Dart, so there's something no matter which platform you call home.
Their first home is as a short social video:

New Kodebits drop every few days on all the usual platforms:
Follow, like, share, dream, scream, whatever else it is that you're supposed to do on social media. Please.
I don't really understand it, but I've really enjoyed solving Kodebits in my Instagram feed. Even though I wrote them…
But I don't like social media…
If social media isn't your thing, don't worry—every Kodebit is archived on the Kodebits page so you can browse them at your own leisure. We'll also be writing monthly roundup articles so you can catch up on everything in one place.
Here are some examples from the first few days of Kodebits:
-
Day 1: Optional Chaining — safely access nested properties in Swift without a pile of
if letstatements. -
Day 3: Null Safety — how Kotlin's type system helps you dodge
NullPointerExceptionfor good. - Day 4: Cascade Notation — chain a sequence of operations on the same Dart object without repeating yourself.
Each Kodebit includes a spoiler with the answer, links to deeper reading from the Kodeco library and—for Swift tips—a link straight to an online playground so you can experiment with the code right in your browser.
The Plan
We've started out by creating 100 Kodebits, covering a mix of beginner and intermediate concepts across all three platforms. If people like them, we'll make more—simple as that.
So let us know if you're enjoying the Kodebits, where you're finding them, and any topic ideas you have for future videos.
